About MSEF

MSEF is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer board. MSEF has served the skiing youth of Missoula for over 30 years, developing strong all-mountain skiers and competitive alpine racers. MSEF offers three progressive programs for skiers 6 years old and up. All three programs involve a mixture of free skiing, development of specific skills through on-snow drills and exercises, and individualized training in the gates--all with an emphasis on alpine fundamentals as outlined by USSA. All programs are based out of Snowbowl Ski Area and athlete placement is subject to the approval of the coaching staff. Lunch and lift tickets are not included.
MSEF’s programs are:

  1. The Grizzly Ski Team (learning the fundamentals of alpine skiing)

  2. The Missoula Ski Team- Development Team (preparing for beginning alpine ski racing)

  3. The Missoula Ski Team (competitive alpine ski racing with travel).

Other MSEF programs that require separate sign ups are Night Training and Christmas Camp for Grizzly Ski Team. See Programs tab for more program information.
In order to keep our program fees reasonable, MSEF organizes annual fundraisers and we ask all parents to volunteer 8 hours/child per season. To insure that this happens, we have implemented a parent participation deposit-- a $100 deposit collected at registration. At the end of the season, after volunteer commitments have been met, checks will be returned.
Some options for fulfilling the volunteer hours are;

  • Assist with any fundraiser( Fall tailgate, Nov REI/ Warren Miller Film, February Snowball auction).

  • Donate a service or item to the auction of $100 value

  • Purchase tickets to attend the dinner/auction.

  • Gate keep at the February 24, 25 ski race held at Snowbowl

  • Any other service you can provide to help MSEF run more smoothly
